On March 10th, ANFFE met with the Secretary General for Agricultural Resources and Food Security, Ana Rodríguez Castaño, and the Director General for Agricultural Production and Markets, Elena Busutil, to present ANFFE's new structure to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. They were informed of the recent creation of a new division within the Association focused on liquid fertilizers, which has already incorporated the main liquid fertilizer manufacturers. As a result, ANFFE now represents the interests of the entire fertilizer manufacturing sector, encompassing both solid and liquid fertilizers.
The president of ANFFE, Ignacio García, gave a presentation on the importance of fertigation, highlighting its ability to improve the efficiency of nutrient use in irrigation and emphasizing that Spain is one of the leading countries in this technology in Europe. The growing development of fertigation in several Spanish regions is stimulating national consumption of liquid fertilizers, which, according to manufacturers' estimates, is well over one million tons of product annually.
Eight companies have already joined ANFFE; these are Spain's largest producers of liquid fertilizers and operate 18 manufacturing plants located near the main fertigation growing areas. Furthermore, the addition of other key companies in the sector is expected soon.
The addition of these companies strengthens the Association's representation, which, with the planned new members, will account for over 50% of liquid fertilizer sales. Furthermore, it will allow for the development of key market metrics, which have been difficult to determine until now.
